Both boys have had soccer and swimming lessons at various times this summer. First are a couple of videos that Miles took during Micah's most recent soccer class. You can see that Micah is a pretty decent kicker. We were also amused that Miles kept the camera going when he climbed up onto the bleachers to get a better view after Micah disappeared behind the wall.
Below are some pictures of Miles playing soccer at a nearby field. He's signed up for a soccer league this fall, and this was the first practice of the season. In a few weeks they will begin playing games on the weekends against other leagues in the area. This will be the most organized sport experience we've had so far, and it will be interesting to see if Miles likes it. He thought the drills at the first practice were very fun.
The rest of the pictures pictures and a few of the videos of Miles at his last swimming class of the summer. Notice in the pictures that he is learning how to dive in head first from the side of the pool. In the videos he swims a backstroke across the pool, and treads water. He's clearly not ready to win any races, but he couldn't come anywhere close to doing either of these things at the beginning of the summer, so he's made great progress. The last video is of him jumping off the diving board. This was only the second time he'd ever jumped off. As you can see, there was no fear at all. He loved it, and we went back to the pool the next day so Miles could pass the swimming test allowing him to jump off again and again.
The last video is one Grandad took of Miles using the new stilts they built. They're working now on painting them bright red.
